Dedication and Determination

Air Technical Industries has a complete staff dedicated and determined to solve your challenges you face in your industry today. There is no project too big or too small that we cannot do.

We had a customer who approached us with a project that was taking up to 6 people to move a console from a vault to a work area each morning and returning back to the vault at the end of the day. 6 people – WOW! They would use a forklift to suspend the console and align so it could be placed onto a cart and manually push this 2100 lb unit to its destination. Their concern was the number of people to move the unit and mostly the risk for injury. They were dealing with tight clearances and with 6 people involved it made those clearances even more tighter.

After our team reviewed their current way of moving this unit we began to work to design and build a unit that would reduce the labor cost, enhance the safety for their employees and provide a more efficient way to move this console. Our design started with a Die Handling Lift Table with a Linear Roller Gravity Conveyors. The console sets on the table and is now moved by a self-propelled walk-behind drive unit. Once the console arrives at the destination, the table will lift to the appropriate height and then moves into to position for use. Now it takes only 2 people. Great job!

Our dedicated team, from sales to engineering and our great team in manufacturing made this happen. We were able to reduce labor cost and enhance the safety of their employees. No job is too big or too small for our team. Let us know how we can help you.

Hi-Tech Client Moves Hardware

A customer in the computer business was looking for an easy way to move their server farm from floor level to a raised level when expanding operations. These servers and hardware sometimes weigh over 1,000 lbs, so it is not a trivial maneuver, especially in tight spaces.

This is a great application for our Zero-Low Lift Table. The lift is equipped with guard rail package and hinged dock plate. The guard rails allow the workers to travel with the server and the dock plate enabled them to bridge the gap between the lift platform and the off-load surface. The ground level “Zero-Low” deck surface makes it easy to roll the equipment onto the lift without the need for ramps or complex rigging procedures.

The customer was very satisfied with the solution and they ordered more. Server farms are rapidly growing in this digital age, and customers are always looking for solutions to fit more hardware into less space. This will not only make the job easier, but it will improve safety. Safety comes first!! And now it does not need to be an afterthought when safe operation becomes the primary operation.

By: Mr. Pero Novak

President of Air Technical Industries USA / U.S. Military Veteran

Made in the USA

The wealth of a nation is built mainly by three segments of the economy: Manufacturing, Mining and Farming. When all three segments are performing at an optimum, the result is an increase in wealth, standard of living and better paying jobs. This provides security and makes us self-sufficient.

China has become a manufacturing giant of the world. They manufacture many products for the USA, generating up to a $50 billion per month trade deficit for the USA. They are getting $50 billion wealthier by manufacturing and the USA is getting $50 billion poorer every month. China has become the second largest economy in the world, passing up many other advanced countries such as Japan, Germany, UK and France. We can compete with China and manufacture all of the products they manufacture when we roll up our sleeves and make the decision to do it.

The U.S.A. needs better manufacturing systems with innovative solutions to help our work force perform better, easier and faster by tooling up with ergonomic equipment. Air Technical Industries (ATI) is my company…and we have developed over 2600 models of such unique, innovative products that will help increase performance up to 300%. ATI makes the job easier, safer and faster so the work force can use more of its brain power instead of muscle and sweat. Check out the ATI website, and you will get the wind of what I am talking about. Let’s just do it…but more importantly… do it today!

For instance, there are millions of production machines in our manufacturing sector capable of producing 10 pieces per minute with one operator. Because the operator has to bend over and reach for a piece, lift and straighten up, the machine is at idle and produces only 2 pieces per minute with lots of effort on the operator’s part.

The innovative and ergonomic way to do it… is to eliminate the need for all the bending over and reaching into the box on the floor. By eliminating the lifting and straightening up, the same machine and operator can produce 6 pieces per minute!

Ergonomically, easier, safer, faster with 300% improvement in performance. The company makes more profit and the operator earns more to improve his lifestyle. He feels successful, rewarded and happy. This is how manufacturing builds the wealth of a nation.

After the manufacturing manager has no place to turn for help, they need to increase output so they buy additional production machines and spend millions of dollars and buy bigger buildings to again be only 29% efficient.

If they knew what ATI can do for them, they can increase output 300% with existing machines and personnel.

They can challenge us with the most difficult project. We have ready-made solutions. Let us work together to build wealth of our nation and improve the standard of living for our work force.

The second segment of the economy is mining metals, ore, gold, silver and the largest is oil/natural gas energy. Just look at the wealth the Saudi Arabians, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Qatar have achieved. If you have not been there, you cannot imagine how well they have invested our dollars from all of the oil they have sold to us over the last 50 years. They have improved the standard of living for their people tremendously. They have become very, very rich. For every 55 gal drum of oil they have sold to us, they have become richer and for every dollar we have spent to buy it from them, we have become poorer.

I am very happy that we have finally smartened up and become self-sufficient in the energy sector where we can start actually exporting natural gas and some oil and regain some of the previous losses. We need to take a leadership role in alternative energy such as solar, wind, battery powered cars, heat pumps and nuclear energy. ATI supplies many pieces of ergonomic equipment, ERGO-ECO, to energy industries such as refineries, oil exploration and wind industries.

Finally the third segment of the economy is farming. It is absolutely amazing how well the American farmers have performed over the years. Increasingly higher performance and more output per employee than any other segment. Currently, only 4% of our population is working in the farming industry and they are feeding us quite well. We all owe the American Farmer a great deal of gratitude. Not only are they feeding us, they export plenty of food to the rest of the world to help with our deficit spending.

The American farmer is not sitting around waiting for the Chinese or others to feed us. They are rolling up their sleeves and just doing it the old fashioned way: Performance, Innovation, Determination, Commitment like “God helps those who help themselves”.

What are you waiting for in the manufacturing sector? You may think it is easy to just buy it from China. That means you want China to become wealthier. That means you want to provide jobs for the Chinese people, you want to support Chinese families before supporting American families. This is UN American.

We, in the good old, USA can compete. We need to modernize our manufacturing systems and tool up for higher efficiency with less effort. Currently, in an average manufacturing plant, 40% of work is spent on actually producing and 60% spent on indirect labor. By reversing these numbers (changing them to 60% producing and 40% indirect labor), that in itself would be a 50% improvement in performance.

We at ATI can help you in these new systems. Call us for free assistance. We have experienced, ergonomic system engineers willing and able to help with innovative solutions to make the job easier, faster, safer and more profitable. Made in America for the American work force for better lives for American families.

ATI Innovates for the New York Aquarium with a One-of-a-Kind Shark Crane

Mentor, Ohio August 15, 2018Have you ever visited an aquarium and wondered how the animals found their way in there? Engineers at Air Technical Industries (ATI) learned first-hand by designing a creative solution for the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) in New York City: the first continuous, double-rail, serpentine crane system of its kind.

ATI thrives on customized designs, with a 50-year history built on tackling the projects that others have called “impossible.” They pride themselves on their “Challenge Request” form on their website, which was how WCS found them.

WCS needed a magical system of continuous motion to gently move sharks weighing up to 600 pounds from one pool to another, as well as from outdoors to inside the pools in the building without compromising the sensitive indoor environment.

In addition to the unique requirements of the space, the business of moving sharks called for very special adjustments. The motion of the crane had to be smooth to keep the animals calm, not jerky or loud-like traditional models. The trolley needed to move at a continuous, but slow pace so the caretakers could walk alongside the moving sharks. The hoist had to lower carefully and smoothly into the pools without splashing down and the materials used could not interfere with the pH of the water or oxygen levels.

Due to the staggered pools, the path of the track had to pass over each pool in an offset formation, as well as miss the gates located between pools.

ATI’s solution arrived as an S-shaped double-girder bridge crane track with a zero-headroom hoist and trolley system. The hoist was built directly into the trolley, saving headspace with only the hook hanging below.

Due to the sensitive nature of the environment, special considerations were necessary to prevent contamination of the aquarium pools including: a special food-grade epoxy coating, wash-down motor, and stainless steel lifting chain and hook, as well as non-toxic and environmentally friendly lubricants.

The trolley travel was probably the biggest challenge in the whole project,” explained Vida Novak, Lead Engineer at ATI. “After making several adjustments to the trolley, we converted it to ‘four-wheel drive,’ enabling all the rollers to navigate the curves in the track smoothly and effortlessly.”

The months of creative collaboration resulted in the first ever double-girder, ceiling mounted, serpentine crane system that perfectly fit the needs of the aquarium.

It was time for the first live shark to go for a test ride on the Shark Crane. Read the New York Times May 16, 2018 article for more details. It worked! People and sharks alike sighed in relief. The Shark Crane was perfectly designed for its unique space.

The Shark Crane is used regularly at the New York Aquarium. Customizing the Shark Crane for such a specific environment was certainly an enormous challenge, but the engineers at ATI know that anything is possible!

Zero-Low Deck for Food Processing

A customer in the food industry was looking for a way to raise food carts that had bags of sugar on them to make it easier for the operator to unload them. The full cart would weigh upwards of 1,000 pounds. They needed something with a small foot print that could be rolled on at Zero-Low height. The lift also had to be suitable for a sanitary environment due to the sensitive food processing application. Our Zero-Low 3-Point Entry Lift Table was a great solution for this need. We also made the necessary provisions to make it suitable for wash-down such as stainless steel structural construction and hydraulic cylinder. The electrical and hydraulic system was also built with wash-down components. The customer wanted a way to lock the carts to the lift so we designed cut-outs in each of the four corners so that the lift will engage the bottom of the cart without the wheels as it raises. This is another successful and innovative solution done by Air Technical Industries!!

Weather Resistance on Loading Dock Application

A customer came to me with a requirement for a loading dock. They needed to ensure suitable weather resistance for their outdoor application.

Air Technical Industries has specialized in custom builds for over 50 years.

Customization is often structural, however, it can be functional or reflected in the unique configuration of the final installation.

We worked with this customer to configure our dock lift so that the power pack could be located at a distance from the scissor lift in a protected area. This setup presented cost-savings over upgrading to a NEMA-4 wash-down duty hydraulic power unit. Hydraulic hoses needed to be run through a conduit to the sheltered area. Quick disconnects were used to facilitate this installation.

Since the table itself would be more susceptible to the weather, it was painted with marine grade paint. All-temperature hydraulic oil was supplied for the hydraulic system to withstand colder temperatures. The dock plate was fabricated out of aluminum to be light weight for ergonomic considerations & prevent corrosion.

Collaboration between the customer, ATI and the builder resulted in a successful weather-resistant installation and a very happy customer.
