Company was looking for a way to remove a hard-to-reach part for maintenance purposes. The difficult part was they were working in tight conditions with overhead height restrictions. The parts only weighs 1000 pounds and has to be accessed at a span distance of 12 feet and a under beam height of 14 feet. Once they remove the item, they need to swing the part away from the unit. However, before they could get the piece into the aisle-way to transport it to the tool room, there was an overhead air-duct in the way. The air-duct is only 10 feet above the floor. The customer has this situation in five different areas it needs to service.
Air Technical Industries had a simple solution to their problem. The Portable Telescopic Mast Jib Crane. ATI combined 2 of its standard units to come up with this creative solution. They took a standard Portable Jib Crane and a standard Telescopic Mast Jib Crane. This one unit can be moved around with a fork truck from machine to machine. This allows the customer to purchase one unit to service all five machines instead of needing five individual floor mounted models to perform an intermittent task. The Portable Telescopic Mast Jib crane has 360 degrees of rotation and an under beam height adjustable from 8 feet to 14 feet. The customer is able to pick the parts, rotate the beam, and lower it under the 10 foot air-duct to the aisle with ease. This solution has increased their bottom line, improved efficiency, improved safety, improved morale, and expanded their employees’ ability to perform.
Standard sizes and modified units are available. Here are links to the above units that were used to make the Portable Telescopic Mast Jib Crane.
